Find your way to Bercy Park on the outskirts of Paris (128 quai de Bercy 12th arr.) From May to November it is a garden wanderer’s paradise. In deep winter, it is a place of solace, contemplation. You definitely want to keep walking with your hands in your pockets with a follow up at one of the wine bars at the foot of the park.

Through the seasons the three landscapes change color and drama. The Romantic Garden features fishponds and dunes; the Flowerbed Garden is dedicated to plant life (I like the formal roses, labyrinth and scented garden); and “The Meadows” are an area of open lawns shaded by tall trees.

Allow for at least 3 hours of your day. Not on the average tourist beat, worth the effort.
