They were hidden away for sixteen years and opened to the public in 2011. Since the 4 connected gardens (Jardin de Rohan, Jardin de Fontenay, Jardin de Jaucourt, and Jardin d’Assy) are tucked behind the tall walls of the Hotel de Soubise and cannot be seen from the street, few visit. The most dramatic entrance is through the Archives Nationales, 60 rue des Francs-Bougeois in the Marais. A direct right turn before reaching the hotel’s steps will take you through the archway. It had just rained and the flowers were saturated and bent. Another day passes along the pathways of this historic patch of earth.
